According to Eric Kleefield of TPM the lesson of the new CBS/NYT’s poll showing Obama trouncing McCain 52 to 41 is that Obama will win big if first time voters just show up. The difference between the various polls is simple, when new voters are discounted the race is close. When new voters are added to the mix the election is a runaway. That is because new voters are breaking 60% to 31% for Democrats.
The bad news is that traditionally new voters, especially new young voters, don’t show up. That is especially difficult in Missouri which doesn’t have early voting. Except for the rare absentee the only votes that count are those cast by people who show up on Tuesday. Our challenge every moment of every day between now and election is to make sure all those new voters we worked so hard to register show up. Are you ready?
OK, I have to admit it, I enjoy this video. It isn’t your standard political campaign video. It’s humor balances the seriousness found in last night’s infomercial. The Obama campaign has a sense of humor. Who knew. Enjoy!
This video is Obama’s closing argument. Given yesterday in Norfolk, VA it outlines just where we are and why we should vote for Obama. Tonight I am not going to be watching Pushing Daisies. Instead I am going to be watching the case for change. Maybe next Wednesday the horror of the last 8 years will be pushing daisies and a new future will have been born.
This video, called “Blueprint for Change,” outlines Obama’s plan for the next administration. If you encounter anybody who doesn’t know what Obama promises, show them this video.
There are four new Missouri state polls out. Two show a narrow Obama lead. One shows Missouri tied. One shows a one point McCain lead.
Zogby shows Obama up 48% to McCain’s 46%. Research 2000 has Obama ahead 48 to 46%. Survey USA says Obama and McCain are tied at 48%. Mason-Dixon has McCain up 46% to 45% for Obama. All are within the margin of error.
The work you do today could change the result in Missouri. That could change the election. That would change the world. No pressure.
In this video Barack Obama’s sister talks about their mother. She sounds like a woman who loved her children and did all she could for them and for the world around her.
I haven’t posted Lee’s last few reasons because I think you all can find your way to his youtube page and subscribe, but today’s reason is really significant.
Reason 12 Priorities. Barack seems to have his head screwed on straight. He knows what is important in life.
One of the interesting aspects of the Obama Campaign is that it has inspired millions of young people hungry for change to talk to their parents and grandparents about the future. Have you had “The Talk” with your parents and grandparents? If not, when? Get on the stick. You only have 12 days. Go to my.barackobama.com/thetalk for do’s and don’ts.
This is an important video not because it shows Barack Obama making phone calls in Kansas City, but because it shows the volunteer strength of his campaign in Jackson County. Folks, we have to keep this going after the election. The Democratic Party in Jackson County needs to maintain this spirit.
The national and local media have recently produced breathless story after breathless story about ACORN and allegations of voter registration fraud. I thought it would be good to show you the other side. Here is a video produced by bravenewfilms explaining exactly what the Republicans and their friends in the media are up to. The key passage is early on in the film, watch for it. As they have done over and over again Republicans are trying to suppress voter turn out. They know that if Democrats don’t show up to vote they win. They want to scare you away from the polls. That is the real threat to the fabric of the democratic process.
Colin Powell has endorsed Barack Obama. I am sure you watched him on Meet the Press. After the announcement he held an impromptu news conference. His comments make a lot of sense to me. What do you think? You might want to share them with your Republican friends.
Notice the video is provided by DemRapidResponse. Those people are really working hard. They haven’t lost their focus. Neither should you.
