Kansas City PRIDE Democratic Club is organized to develop, support and elect qualified candidates who support the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community. We will accomplish this through party unity and coalition building throughout the greater Kansas City area.

A Voice for Human Rights

Founded in the summer of 2002, KC PRIDE Democratic Club has given the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender community along with our strong straight allies a voice in the political process on all levels - local, state & national.

Our broad-based membership is inclusive and open to all persons, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, creed or ability. KC PRIDE works to build coalitions with other Democratic and progressive groups throughout the area. We seek to reach out to all individuals and organizations interested in human rights and social justice for all persons.

Our Members Make It Happen

Our organization is membership-driven, meaning that decisions on which candidates to endorse in local, state and national elections and other matters are made by the entire membership. All KC PRIDE members have an equal voice in making decisions for the club.

Some of the accomplishments of KC Pride:

• Screened & Endorsed LGBT candidates and supportive candidates.
• Been a leader concerning issues dealing with human rights in the area.
• Been a leader the effort to bring together LGBT groups and straight allies in support of domestic partnership issues.
• Taking part in community-wide events and building coalitions with other Democratic and progressive groups
• Participating in the Kansas City Police Task Force resulting in the effort to recruit openly LGBT police officers
• Hosting events for candidates and office-holders we support.
• Been active with the Jackson County Democratic Committee.
• Hosted one of Kansas City’s premier political fundraisers by individual clubs.
• Honored with the Harry Wiggins Democratic Organization of the year 2008, by the JCDC.
