James D. Tindall, Sr.
James D. Tindall, Sr. James Dennis Tindall, Sr. was born on June 6, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri. He is the son of Wallace and Lottie Tindall. He attended W.W. Yates Elementary School and is a graduate of Manual High School, class of 1960. He attended the University of Missouri Kansas City, Carver Bible Institute, Western Baptist Bible College, Columbia School of Broadcasting and KPRS School of Broadcasting.
He attended the Highland Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend C. S. Stamps and at the age of 16 years old joined the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ where he sang in the choir, was Superintendent of the Sunday School, served on the Trustee Board and later was called to Ministry.
He is married to Ms. Frances Smith. He is the father of six beautiful children, four whose mother is Miss Ella Tindall (Janie, Tina, Sheila, and James, Jr.). Frances is the mother of Cheryl and James Dennis, III. Mr. Tindall has 14 grandchildren.
He was ordained in July 1976 at the First Church of Deliverance in Chicago, Illinois by the Reverend Clarence H. Cobbs. Simultaneously with his elevation to ordained Minister, he was appointed Pastor of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ in Kansas City, Missouri, the mother church of the spiritual church movement. Rev. Tindall was appointed permanent pastor on Friday, September 24, 1976.
Rev. Tindall was appointed to be Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ by the Reverend Dr. Logan Kearse, who in 1980 became International President of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ.
On November 8, 1996, in Chicago, Illinois, at the First Church of Deliverance Dr. James D. Tindall, Sr. was elevated to the office of Bishop by the Archbishop of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ Arthur Leonard Posey.
